Pay It Forward!

I recently heard of Pay It Forward from Shannon over at **Happiness Is** and I've wanted to participate ever since! Brandi over at Not Your Average Ordinary recently posted that Stephanie from My Little Corner of the World was hosting a Pay It Forward and I stopped everything to head on over and guess what? I'm in! This is my first Pay It Forward and I can't even begin to tell you how excited I am! If you haven't heard of it, here's how it works...

Isn't this fun?! Please, visit Stephanie's wonderful blog {where you'll also see the makings of some of her new products} and her shop Tama Press! You'll really be impressed when you see her work!

So, here we go... and Thank You, Stephanie! I'm looking forward to my surprise! :)  and to the first 3 who leave a comment ~      I can't wait to start making you your special gift!

sew in love... with d.i.y. pincushions

...believe it or not, I {currently} do not have a pincushion. What?! I know. Bad sewist! It wasn't always this way. I did have a classic tomato pincushion with the strawberry dangling off the side...I have no clue where it went... Right now, my pins are dropped in a drab little plastic container, works fine, not so cute. So I went looking for cute and found a few easy d.i.y. goodies~

...like this tutorial for a deliciously adorable bon bon pincushion found at Craft Stylish. {and the base is made with a plastic bottle cap! :) }

View more presentations from kootoyoo.
Then I found this fantastic slide show from Kirsty at kootoyoo! My vintage handkerchiefs will finally have a purpose!

I've always loved teacup pincushions and now that I want to make one, I'll be keeping my eye open for tea and coffee cups at thrift stores and yard sales. Here's a tutorial from Craftzine.

If you prefer not to make your own, then you can always order this cup of cocoa with a personalized monogram from Dotty at Dottyral! {It's my favorite from her shop!}

 ~ Remember the strawberry with the tomato? It's filled with a mineral called emery to keep pins and needles sharp. Pincushions can also be filled with emery {using a muslin casing) instead of fiberfill {see Dotty's tutorial at Instructables}. If you're wondering where to buy emery, you can purchase it here from Dotty.
