A Printmaking Project ~ Book Giveaway
Friday, January 29, 2010 I've been debating all week as to what my next giveaway would be... should it be One Yard Wonders {the answer to my fabric hoarding collecting 'I'll-use-this-to-make-something-cute-someday' project}, The Happiness Project {I'm happy, really I am, darn it, who doesn't need another project so early in the year? And if the title says 'project' somewhere...I'm there}, 4 Hour Workweek {ohh...wish I was there ~ more time to blog!}? I know you would join me on any of these ventures {still a future possibility?}, but I chose another book for now and I do believe you will be pleased!
{Printing By Hand by Lena Corwin}
The inspiration ~ I recently discovered Lauren and her wonderful blog, A Fabulous Fete, and she posted that she was interested in block printing {she says obsessing...ahh, my kind of crafter} ever since she saw this DIY project over at High Heeled Foot in the Door. Well, it got me obsessing, too! I've never tried block printing. I've only dabbled in potato stamping :). I didn't have any techniques to offer Lauren. Thankfully, my obsession this week brought Printing By Hand into my library of craft books...
This is what I love about Lena Corwin's book: Her details in getting started! She does not miss a beat ~ She really takes you step by step in the all important beginning process of material and tool selection, choosing your surface, creating a design, how to select inks and paints, clean-up, tips, and resources. Each chapter {stamping, stenciling, and screen printing} has six generous and beautiful projects, and full size templates are included, too! From stationery to home accessories, each project is fun and easily doable for a novice or a seasoned printmaker. Oh, and it's spiral bound {yay! lays flat!}. And beautiful photography by Thayer Allyson Gowdy! Take a look inside the book here!
I'm really excited about Printing By Hand and I want you to have a copy, too! ~

I would love to enter this one but I already have the book! It's awesome so congratulations in advance to the lucky winner. This probably won't stop me blogging about it though.
Scrapbooking is about as "crafty" as I get, but I mainly wanted to stop by and say "hello" and thanks so much for visiting my Balance Beam. Hope you have a FABULOUS week! :-) Cheers! Charlene
I'd love to try something like this--I'm trying to stretch my creativitiy! Thanks for the chance!
What a cool crafty idea! I'm always looking for new ways to be creative - printing sounds like a fun way to try funky designs and patterns. :)
i've been wanting to get this book from my local library but they don't carry it yet, so i'd love to win it!
my mom used to screenprint when i was a kid and i always enjoyed helping. i'd love to learn to create layered prints - to play around with registration and opacity and stuff. that would be cool.
Yeah, I love giveaways!

Ooooh fun! I think I'd like to print a simple tree design on a super soft cozy (bamboo?) t-shirt. Hal is actually a really good screen printer. But I'm sure we'd both learn lots for this. Thank you Eileen! xoxo

OMG, I've been lusting after this book for AGES (just as a side note, my friend has the one yard wonders book and has actually made a dog jacket from one of the patterns...) I think I would love to stamp some lovely cards and stationary so I can stay in better touch with people!
Couldn't resist blogging about it either!
